to be fair

ku and k-state did have more than 8 combined wins up until a few years ago.

through 1989 their all time records are :
ku 396 - 407 - 53
k-state 241 - 473 - 34

k-state has the 8th worse winning percentage of all time at 42%

however alabama through 1989 was 636 - 211 - 41 with too many national champtionships and sec championships and bowl games to mention and currently has the third best winning percentage at 72%. behind only notre dame and michigan.

just to be fair... roll tide!!!

so i'm checking my referers (that's where the link was that people clicked on to get to this website) and one of them is a google search, actually a couple of them are including the two most recent. one of the searches was for "Spring Break Pictures guys". i did the search and never found my site. i even went like 30 pages deep. the other one was "bill warren website mayor", and mine is the first on the list!!! there's a way to keep google from crawling your pages, i may look into that. if you stumble upon this mr. warren... welcome to my website.

bill warren didn't win. he only got like 16% of the votes. that's unfortunate, but the cool thing is God's doing stuff in his life.

spring break in alpine

permalink | cm(0) | tb(0) | me

i spent spring break in alpine, texas with the baptist campus ministries group i work with at wichita state. on saturday, march 15th at 6:30 am ( it would have been 6 if someone - randy - had taken the time to pack the night before instead of getting up that morning to do so ) we left wichita headed for texas with a 12 hour drive ahead of us. the trip down was fairly uneventful except when randy drove, then we all either closed our eyes or caught up on prayers as we hoped to make it out of the city in one piece.

southwest texas has a very unique beauty. it's a desert region with sandy rocky soil, cactus and mountains. desolate and sparsely populated, it has that old west kind of feel. the people at hillside baptist church were incredibly nice and hospitable to us, as well as their, and our, unexpected guest for the week, john.

john is a voluntarily homeless guy who started in oregon, back in november, and has walked and hitch hiked his way to southwest texas. a very neat guy, and very intelligent as well with a degree in bio-chemistry, he hung out with us for the week helping us out with our projects around the church.

our home was a trailer at paisano baptist encampment. unfortunately the nights got unusally cold and since the trailer was pretty much for summer use, it wasn't exactly winterized. it droped down to the 50s in the trailer so eventually we got some heaters and made the best of it. at the church we worked on repairing old pews, doing some redecorating in the women's bathroom and painting the lines for the church's new basketball court.

we also got to see the sights of alpine. one night we went to see the mysterious marfa lights and the one day we traveled further south to big bend national park where we did some rock climbing and anna tried walking through cactus.

the trip was great. we got to help a church out with some things that their members didn't have time to do. we got to know each other alot better and we made a new friend in john. here are some pictures from the weekend. yes, there are alot of pictures of mountains, but that's because they were cooler to take pictures of than everyone hammering or taping or painting.

gods and mayors

permalink | cm(0) | tb(0) | spiritual

every tuesday the association i work for has a luncheon for pastors and we usually have a guest speaker. last week the guest speaker was bill warren, a local businessman who is running for mayor. i was surprised to see him there as i had not heard too many terribly positive things said about him as far as his political views and his lifestyle.

here's where the story gets cool. the man who invited him, a former pastor, had attended one of his "town meetings" and had invited mr. warren to one of the churches here in town. warren came, and has been coming for the last 3 or 4 weeks. warren claims to be a Christian but readily admits that he hasn't really thought about God and that his business has been what has run his life for the last 50 years. then he made this awsome, very emotional statement. "it's funny how sometimes you start a journey with a specific destination in mind, and then all of the sudden it changes."

warren plans on joining a church and committing his life to Christ after the election, which is this week. he wants to keep this change in his life from being twisted politically. whether he wins or loses the election, this guy's life will never be the same.

it just goes to show, always be ready for a change of direction in your journey.

jimmy reincarnate

permalink | cm(1) | tb(0) | me

i got a new jimmy. it's a 99 and it's blue. not that really light blue but a really really dark blue with a couple of white pinstripes just below the windows. it was a good deal, only 32k miles on it. if it's as good to me as the first one was i'll be happy. now i just gotta get me a new bama sticker for it and we'll be good to go. it doesn't have a plate holder thing on the front for the bama plate i've got. i gotta look into getting one of those.

anyway..yay..i have a new car. i will never again be a "first time buyer", which basically means i am one step higher on the "let's screw this guy" food chain at a car dealership.
